Mary McLeod Bethune

In 1906 she built the Daytona Literacy and Industrial School for Training Negro Girls in FL.

After getting funding from one of the founders of Proctor and Gamble, the school joined forces with an all boys school in Jacksonville and it became the Bethune Cookman College.
